It is with deep sadness that we need to communicate with you today our decision not to run Central Easter Camp for 2024.

This has been a difficult, but prayerfully made decision. There are many committed volunteers who give so much to make camp happen year after year. This year, many key roles within camp are going through a season of changeover and as a result the level of time and expertise available would fall short, to an unmanageable number of people available to run camp.

We do not want to run a camp that came at the expense of personnel wellbeing.

While camp isn’t happening next year, the team is working hard in the background to ensure future camps can run effectively and sustainably. We’re excited for the future of camp and will use this time to consider the structures, systems, culture, and outcomes of how and why we run camp. We absolutely want to return for Central EC25.

We still love camp. We still love seeing you all and sharing together in the Easter Story.

We’re hopeful that with 5 months notice that groups will be able to run smaller gatherings across the region. We’re also working hard to facilitate alternative arrangements for next year.

We know that this decision will be heartbreaking to many of your young people, especially those who have experienced cancelled events over covid. Know that the Central Easter Camp team holds you all in prayer as we navigate this together.

Grace and peace,

Vision Team and Lower North Island Baptist Association Executive
